Introduction
Eight years since we started to provide Smart Factory solutions, we have found that many customers are unfamiliar with the process of factory digital transformation. What is a smart factory? What is the first step to building a digital flow?
Role of THE internet IN a smart factory
Today, Smart Factory uses the network to transmit information and data. With the Internet, info, such as production parameters; work order information; production data; and product histories, can be transferred between the platform and the production line.
This information, traditionally transmitted manually, can be transferred digitally via the Internet. This method is faster and causes fewer mistakes.
Sounds convenient and high-tech, huh?
But hold on a second. Are you sure your production line can be networked?
Evaluate your circumstance
If so, that's great. Your line has the base requirement to transfer data digitally. You should start arranging what information you want to collect!
If not, evaluate it from two aspects.
First, whether the existing factory has a complete network. A comprehensive network infers network wiring covering all required regions. Also, servers are essential to cope with large amounts of data without a crash.
Evaluate your Machines
A networked device depends on its controller.
Some of the machines already contain the networking function. Plug in the internet cable to the controller to realize networking.
What can you do with your existing old machines?
No worry! In addition to buying a new machine, you can also retrofit the machine.
The retrofitted machine is installed with a new controller that can connect to the network.
From the old controller, production information like motor speed, production meters, and machine temperature are integrated into the new controller.
The collected data is then transferred to the server through the new controller. Now, your machine can be connected to the network!
Where can you retrofit your machines?
Conclusion
In the Smart Factory, IoT is the foundation of any advanced modules. Through the network, the information and production lines can exchange digital information effectively and realize the most crucial concept of a Smart Factory, data visualization.
